

There are many different symptoms to each different type of cancer, however many patient undergoing cancer treatment or who have been diagnosed have suffered from many common symptoms.
A symptom is any bodily change or sensation felt by a person that is related to a particular disease, illness, or injury. Examples of a symptom would be fatigue, chills, etc. A sign is also a bodily change in a person, but it can be seen by a health care professional. Examples of a sign are fever, heavy breathing, etc. There are many different types of cancers, thus, it depends on where the cancer is, how big it is, and if its effecting any organs nearby to have signs and symptoms. As cancer starts to grow, it effects nearby organs, blood vessels, tissues, etc., that can have an impact and produce those signs and symptoms. Signs and symptoms can be good in a way because they let people know that they have a problem and need to see a doctor immediately. Nothing should ever be ignored. However, sometimes you may have a sign or symptom of a certain cancer, but that doesn’t mean you have cancer.
Unexplained weight loss- Those with cancer may find them at some point with rapid weight loss. If you find yourself losing 10 lbs or more rapidly this could be the first sign of cancer. Rapid weight loss is associated with cancers of the pancreas, stomach, esophagus, or lung.
Fever- Fever is common with cancer, especially if the cancer has weakened the immune system. Fever may be one of the first signs for leukemia or lymphoma.
Pain- Usually an advanced part of the disease. However, it can be an early symptom for such cancers as bone and testicular.
Depression- Depression is also one of the most common symptoms of many cancer patients. This usually set in one to two months after the patient has been diagnosed. The partitions from their normal lifestyle into one that is constantly filled with pain and struggles may lead certain patients and also the family and friends close to those into a depressed state of mind. However it is important to stay positive throughout the whole situation and know that there are always people there for support.
Fatigue- Fatigue is one of the most common symptoms related to those who have undergone heavy treatments. The body naturally has to fight harder than normal and is working against your cancer to prevent it from spreading. Along with, this much of the medicines that patients are treated with have a side effect of fatigue and may cause drowsiness to the patient. This is one of the less serious symptoms of fatigue. Fatigue may also be linked to slight depression and low energy for patients.
Anorexia- Anorexia is one major symptom of cancer. Usually linked to slight depression, cancer patient often lose the feeling to eat and experience stages or low energy and low self-esteem. Anorexia is one of the more common symptoms of cancer patients among those who have little hope or little support.
Skin changes- Can be a sign of cancer. Change in the appearance of moles, discoloration of the skin, excessive hair growth, sores that don't heal, etc.
Thickening or Lumps- Many cancers can be felt through the skin like; testes, breasts and lymph nodes.
